Singular Sound – TRAX Looper

Singular Sound enlisted psd to create a revolutionary looper pedal that addressed key challenges experienced by musicians. psd conducted extensive user research, including interviews with musicians who frequently use loopers, to understand their pain points and design intuitive solutions. The resulting design featured methods to prevent accidental foot presses, allowing musicians to perform smoothly, clear visual understanding of each setting selected, and a sleek UI.

The user interface (UI) was designed to be easy to read in dynamic performance settings, providing clear visual feedback through LED lights that indicated each action. psd introduced a foot-driven adjustment knob, which allowed musicians to make precise changes without taking their hands off their instruments.

Six distinct design concepts were created, each offering a unique solution to the identified issues. The TRAX design was ultimately selected and developed into the final product, incorporating these innovative solutions to improve performance control and musical expression.
