Luxo Gyra

Gyra is an outdoor lamp, designed to reflect nature by spinning with the wind.  The body has an airfoil sectional shape creating movement with wind currents.  We decide to use rotoforming to create the waterproof housing, the first time it was used for a design object, and worked with the factories to develop whole new consumer applications.

Gyra was designed while working as Senior Designer and Project Leader at Isao Hosoe Design.

It won the Bio16 Award of 1998.
