Wicked Lasers Laser Light Bulb

Wicked Lasers was working on developing the world’s first laser based light bulb and came to psd to help design the housing and resolve some important functional issues.  Since the laser’s electronics produce a high concentration of heat at the source, the whole body was designed using heat dissipating ribbing, the light needed to be diffused using layers of special specular film contained in a wider area at the mouth, so the function basically determined the form of this project.  Note there is also an elegant play of a hidden form when viewing the light bulb straight on laterally.   The light produced is very interesting, intense and seems to vibrate, it will be very nice mood lighting at clubs, bars, and in architectonic senses.
